I have worked in IT 2008.
What words would you use to inspire others facing an professional or project-related obstacle?
To collaborate with each other. I emphasize the importance of working together as a team. To leverage each other’s strengths to get the job done.
Can you describe a recent positive experience working with another woman at Technologent?
Elizabeth Lyndall is my ISR. Working with her is always a pleasure. When she goes on vacation I actually become anxious 😊.
She creates, shapes and makes my job easier.

In light of my recent health challenges I would say: This too shall pass.

The Women of Technologent are strong, hard-working and intelligent. We care for and support each other in our daily roles as professionals but also as moms, daughters, aunts, grandmothers, etc. We see each other and the balance we all struggle to maintain in our personal and professional lives. It’s a great group of women I know are influencing the next generation of Women in Tech.
Name a fun fact about yourself that you’d like more people to know?
I lead two Girl Scout Troops. This coming year will be my 6th year leading my now Junior Girl Scouts. I also have a Daisy Troop that will be bridging to Brownies this Fall. It’s an extremely rewarding role.
How long have you worked in the IT industry?
15 years.
What would you say is the biggest challenge working in the IT field as a woman?
I’ve actually found that once you’ve worked in this field your knowledge is valuable and opportunities are plentiful. It’s getting into your desired position within the industry that can be challenging.
What words would you use to inspire others facing an professional or project-related obstacle?
Take your time, gather all the necessary information, don’t be afraid to ask for help, involve all the necessary people.
Can you describe a recent positive experience working with another woman at Technologent?
I’ve had several positive work experiences with women in Technologent, but most recently working with April Porterfield has been inspirational. She’s always been an exemplary example for women in the industry, but most recently she’s shown me such strength, resiliency and positivity. I’m in awe of her ability to overcome. Lots of love for you April!
What is a professional/career goal for you this year?
My goal is to always build on my experiences. To work smarter and not harder. To be better for my team and our customers.

I’m currently reading Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus and I’m really enjoying it so far.

So many to choose from but the one I try to live by and remind my daughters about is the Golden Rule - "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
