What does the phrase “Women of Tech(nologent)” mean to you?
Women lifting each other up and supporting each other in an industry that has historically drawn more men than women.
How long have you worked in the IT industry?
Since 2011 – 13 years!
What would you say is the biggest challenge working in the IT field as a woman?
Although women have made great strides in equality throughout the business world, the IT field is still male dominated. Thus the biggest challenge remains being seen as an equal.
Can you describe a recent positive experience working with another woman at Technologent?
Working with Harvinder on India tax challenges. We have been struggling for years with this, but through her perseverance we are nearing the goal line on some solutions. Without Harvinder driving it, we’d still be at square one.
Name a book, movie or music album you’re enjoying currently:
Ani DiFranco’s new album (it’s called Unprecedented Sh!t)
Are there any specific quotes, sayings or lessons that are important to you?
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. Although I wish it didn’t just say “men”, the underlying sentiment is still important. We all must be involved, speak out, and fight for our beliefs.

Women add innovation to companies with providing new insights and problem-solving solutions to male-dominated industries. Our thoughts and input can help products and services reach a broader audience.
Name a fun fact about yourself that you’d like more people to know?
I grew up as an Army Brat, moving every 3 years, beginning with being born in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin and graduating high school in El Paso, Texas. My family travelled all over the United States as well as living in Nürnberg Germany where I attended my Junior High years.
How long have you worked in the IT industry?
Technologent is my first IT Industry job…7 years ago…after working in the gaming industry for 15 years.
What would you say is the biggest challenge working in the IT field as a woman?
Women hold a low percentage of leadership positions in tech-related jobs which makes it a bit challenging to find role models and mentorship opportunities.
What words would you use to inspire others facing an professional or project-related obstacle?
It is important to understand that your experience facing and overcoming adversity is one of your biggest advantages. Do not plan to be surprised, plan to be prepared for any outcome.
Can you describe a recent positive experience working with another woman at Technologent?
Korbi Simons has been an amazing co-worker. Every account is different. Working together, learning through each other’s experiences, helps to get through the obstacles.
What is a professional/career goal for you this year?
Learning new abilities and earning certifications as products are always improving.

“A Matter of Inches – How I Survived in the Crease and Beyond” – a hockey survival story written by Clint Malarchuk who was a goalkeeper with the Buffalo Sabres in 1989 when an opponent accidently slashed his throat during play.
