It means a group of amazing women in the technology industry who support and empower each other to be successful.
Name a fun fact about yourself that you’d like more people to know
I am a happy Grandjan to Levi 3 and Paige 1 who are my world!
How long have you worked in the IT industry?
I’m going to age myself here… I’ve been working supporting the Tech industry for many years, starting with a small beeper (pager) & cell phone company back in the late 80’s and 90’s but have been with Technologent 17 years.
What would you say is the biggest challenge working in the IT field as a woman?
Working with the diverse strong male personalities in this industry can be challenging at times. There seems to be a thought that we can get everything done that is requested from us without issue or questions asked. Unfortunately, accounting matters are not solved by making phone call or a by a handshake. It is challenging to accommodate everyone’s needs and wants, internal as well the customer’s while still being audit and GAAP compliant.
What words would you use to inspire others facing a professional or project-related obstacle?
Think of the rest of the world and where you are right now. We don’t have obstacles, we have opportunities. Grab the bull by the horns! Give it your all, from beginning to end. No excuses, take ownership and pride in your work. Not sure if that is inspirational, but there are people in this world less fortunate who really don’t have any opportunity in life, don’t be intimidated or wasteful of what you can do. Forge ahead, count your blessings and be Thankful!
Can you describe a recent positive experience working with another woman at Technologent?
I can’t just name one to be honest. I work daily alongside wonderful women at Technologent that are positive in everything they do. I have two great mentors who always offer me positive reinforcement and motivation to give my very best.
What is a professional/career goal for you this year?
This coming year my goal is to continue to support the sales team by working on implementing and improving accounting processes to increase efficiency and happiness for all!

Not currently reading anything special, however my all-time favorite book that I pick up and re-read when I feel I need a boost, is The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz

Things I try to live by: Be impeccable with your word, don’t take anything personally, don’t make assumptions and always do your best.

What does the phrase “Women of Tech(nologent)” mean to you?
Intelligent, hard-working, well-rounded individuals. This industry is ever-evolving, and we are fortunate to work with so many women that have extensive experience and vast knowledge pushing us to continuously grow, both as individuals and collectively.
Name a fun fact about yourself that you’d like more people to know?
For 6 years, I sat on the Board of Directors for a local non-profit; Womenaid of Greater Portsmouth. In that time, we raised over $500,000, and proudly, every dollar raised was a dollar we were able to directly give back to those in need within our very own community.
Can you describe a recent positive experience working with another woman at Technologent?
What I appreciate most; every day, I work alongside incredibly talented woman. All of whom are supportive and motiving. Often, in working together, it’s where creative solutions occur. I am always grateful for the clear communication and constant support both within my own team as well as between departments. It’s the team approach that allows us all to reach overall success.
